Icemosis - Funky Nation 1979
That famous 70's Funk band, Icemosis, performing their 1979 hit - "Funky Nation" from the forthcoming motion picture "Icemosis" LOL !!!
ICEMOSIS is an African American funk band from the 70’s and 80’s. The group was formed in Chicago in 1975 by a gifted guitarist name GARY MOTEN. Gary would play around town where ever he could along with close friends OTIS DAVIS JR who also played guitar, CRAIG BENARD Bass player and drummer, ARNELL COOPER. The guys landed a gig at a local Jook joint where the started to get their first fan base. While visiting a church one Sunday Gary found Keyboard player ERIC JOHNSON and vocalist CURTIS LEWIS. Shortly after they signed with ANTWAN KENNEDY who pushed the guys to write new material and record a demo. Shortly before going into the studio the group added ROBERT MOODY Keyboard and Vocalist. And so ICEMOSIS was born. The story of ICEMOSIS tells the start of raw musicians from the 70’s who didn’t have the luxuries of Drum Machines, Pro tools and auto tunes melodynes devices. The success of the bands, and how it brought good and bad to the circle. The times where seven to nine was the number of the average group. There has never been a story to tell the funk side of it. ICEMOSIS is a little bit of all the bands from the era.

Alton McClain & Destiny - It Must Be Love (1978)
A dynamic soul/r&b group from the late 70's, Alton McClain & Destiny scored with the title track "It Must Be Love" (a near flawless combination of sweet soul singing with an energetic and funky musical production), reaching the Top Ten on the R&B chart and the Top 40 pop. The group went on to record two more similarly-veined albums, but were unfortunately unable to capitalize on their initial success and disbanded in 1981. Singer Alton McClain briefly attempted a solo career and is now on the gospel circuit, while Destiny members D'Marie Warren and Robyrda Stiger went on to form the 80's r&b/dance group Krystol.

Felix & Jarvis - Flamethrower Rap (1982) [starts at 1:45]
i don't know much about felix and jarvis other than they started out as either dancers or producers for the scene. the scene was a mid seventies to mid eighties detroit dance show that everybody in detroit watched in order to know all the latest dances and styles. this rap song is a cover of "flamethrower" by j giles band. felix wrote the line "are you ready to throw down" which was incorporated in to the nat morris open just before the record was released and remained part of the script until the show ended in 1987. call felix and jarvis' music electro-funk or rap or proto-house or rock-n-roll or new-wave or whatever you wanted. it was always danceable though no matter what you called it.
